Asymmetric beam-beam effect study in a highly polarized electron-ion collider

The EicC (The highly polarized Electron-ion collider in China) project proposes a scheme with different numbers of bunches the two rings, which leads to an asymmetric beam-beam effect, also known as gear-change effect. In order investigate feasibility collision EicC, self-consistent simulation program named athenagpu, uses GPU for high-performance computing, was developed. A linearized matrix model is used account dipole instability that occurs simulation. results modes show can lead instability, and beam be stabilized by adjusting nominal tunes. process scanning intensity, may occur intensity decreases, this suppressed compensating Offset simulations decoherence time displaced bunch shorter than symmetric collision. study paper suggests promising when only effect considered.
